2009 Tasar Sailing Events There are now a number of events being planned. You can see them lower down on right hand side of this page...
Refurbishing a Tasar Nathan Batchelor who sails Tasar 659... One of the great things about a Tasar is that old boats can be competitive. There are very few dinghy classes where this is genuinely the case... to read more click here. Use the forum to give us some feedback on what you think about this type of contribution to the site... This Years Top Sailors And if you want a reminder of the wonderful nationals the pictures and results are still on line. Click here.
It is 37 degrees here in India (just thought you would like to know) and whilst I have been away everyone has worked hard to put the forum back together thank you. Tasar Association History I was passed some really interesting information by Pete Ellis, that some very forward looking people have been collecting on past Nationals and the cups we present each year. There should be some interest in this when we put it on the web in the near future. I was really surprised to see 31 years of UK Tasar National results. Can anyone who does not have a copy of this data remember who won the first Nationals in 1977 (well the first in this data set)? Or can anyone guess who has been the most successful helm and crew over the years? Is it clear when you enter the Nationals what the cups are that you can aim to win? Well it will be I hope within a couple of weeks. Or maybe no one cares! 2011 Worlds The worlds 2011 team are meeting to make decisions this week, they too will have their own web page like this to keep us updated on progress. UK Nationals and Europeans Colin Tait the Scottish Chairman who is leading and the UK nationals and Europeans team is making progress, the North Berwick East Lothian Yacht Club team have been briefed by Colin and they have their plans in place, members have already started to book accommodation. Colin will also have his own web page to keep us updated on Scottish matters James Bretherick is working for us in Germany to help the mainland Europeans to participate. so I am beginning to feel confident about what is our major annual event. What I would like to see now is firm or at least provisional information on other Tasar sailing events for later this year and throughout 2009 posted in the new Forum and on the Calendar there. James will also have his own web page to keep us updated on European Mainland activities. Tim Knight has organised/identified transport for Tasars to North Berwick if you want more information on that please contact him - via the forum or directly. Worlds 2009 The 2009 worlds web site is now up and running - see Pete's item in the forum. I am off on a series of business trips outside the UK for the next 5 weeks. Roger Pescod will help with the web or other Internet issues if they come up. Offers Of Help I am conscious that I have not followed everyone up who has offered help to either work on the committee or to help in other ways. Please accept my apologies, there are many things to do so please chase me if you are still interested to help. This is what Nathan just did! Best regards to everyone... New Forum - Posts (see below)
We are now on a new ISP [Web WIZ (www.webwizhost.com)] a small company based in Poole. This company has provided us with a new professional Forum. The forum is being used - see the recent post panel about half way down on the right of this page. This is a very good sign. If you would like to use the Forum I would strongly recommend that you log into your profile area and update your username. If like me you are using your email address as the login username for this site, this will be displayed each time you make a posting in the forum. This is not a good idea as all the nasty web harvesting machines will add you to spam mail lists. When you log into the Tasar association site and navigate to the forum you are automatically added to its database so update your username before going to the forum when logged in. You can visit and read post when you are not logged in. When logged in you can browse the forum reply to and or add to topics. You can add an RSS feed to your web browser so that you are aware of new topics and discussions added to the Forum. Pete Ellis has suggested a structure for the Forum and this has been implemented - if you have any ideas for additional Categories or forums please let us know - use the web forum or email a committee member form the committee page. If you are going to add events please let us know first so that we can enable you to add dates to the calendar. Hope you are having a great winter, we are having the best Sun of the year here in Scotland just now, cold but beautiful.
